We just returned from a trip to WA to see the paternal grandparents. They ate him up for a week solid and now he is trying to catch up on the sleep he didn't get in WA. Above is the picture of Nolan discovering sand at Lake Sylvia. I think a daddy made sandbox is in order next summer. In 3 weeks we will be next to a God made sandbox...Florida! YES!!!

Nolan can crawl! Backward!!! He gets pushed up on hands and knees rocks foward with such force I think "oh, he's going to take off any second" then...no. He either plops back down on his belly, flails about (resembling a fish out of water while crying out in frustration) regains his composure then back up to hands and knees again only this time to either get on his toes and stick that little butt into the air (I think he has been watching me do too many yoga videos, he's mocking the Downward Facing Dog) or to move backward before repeating previously explained flopping and grunting. That crazy kid. He loved them cats though. Shadow is the cat shown above. Nolan would yank him, pull him, suck on his tail and God Bless that cat he just wanted to be pet so he put up with it all without so much as a hiss. In fact, the animal came back for more!

We took a drive up to Mt. Saint Helens. Unfortunetely it was cloudy at the top but the weather was nice otherwise. We took a short hike along the hills surrounding the volcano. You kept up well Gma!

Gpa Wickes had a great time teaching Nolan all about politics, family, religion and oh yes, to bang on the tray when he wants more food. So much for the sign language we have been working on. Gpa says "all you have to do Nolan is pound on the tray and say more food, more food and your mama will come running" well, he got the pounding down. That silly Gpa, we love him just the same.

I love this post...good humor and great info on your awesome little man. We're in a similar spot with crawling. Maddie just scoots backward and she gets on her toes and lifts her belly up, too. I think it looks like she's doing a Plank, working on her core. Ha ha! We'll see you at God's sandbox very soon!!!
Your family is adorable! We are another blogging couple here in Alaska, so when I saw your neat blog, I just thought I'd say hello! :)
