What can I say about the third pregnancy/baby...lots actually! For starters, man am I tired! I feel like I struggle for energy this go around which I don't recall being an issue with the last 2. We are planning a home birth with this baby which is SO exciting for us and a bit scary. I have been held in the hand of obstetricians and hospitals where you do get a sense of security in one sense and for us also a great deal of anxiety. I have been so blessed to have the last 2 babes in Alaska where the medical staff there let me birth how and when I wanted with no argument. I wasn't convinced I would be that lucky here so we decided to do what was most natural to us and have the baby at home with a midwife in attendance. This decision too has created some distance from me and the pregnancy. I feel a bit disconnected from it. Maybe because I'm not going to a visit and have the medical experience I sort of fee like there isn't really anything going on...yes, despite the rapidly expanding waistline. Waistline and well just about everything else. I will never know why my butt and thighs have to grow right along with the belly but be it as it will, I focus on being HEALTHY knowing everything else is there for a good reason and will be worked off in time. Thus far I have gained 25lbs (more than I did in 38 wks of Nolan's pregnancy and 2lbs shy of my total gain of 27lbs in Georgia's 41 wk gestation).
Yesterday's midwife visit revealed a fundal height of 32 cm (should be about 30) and by ultrasound a few weeks ago baby is measuring a week and a half larger than my dates indicate. Interesting. The "due" date is Oct 7, or Sept 29 depending on who you ask. My midwife has stated that I have tons of fluid right now and will soon fill up with baby and equalize. Baby still hasn't gotten the memo that he/she needs to be vertex in the next few weeks. The baby is breach right now. Still not a concern... yet. By my 34 wk visit baby better have flipped! Until then I am going to start my chiropractic care, sit on my birth ball frequently and do pelvic rocks.
32 weeks with Nolan
30 weeks with Georgia
30 weeks baby #3
