A Mom Epiphany

So I get done grocery shopping today and have put my food away. I stare into the fridge and notice a few items I wouldn't have in there had I not become a mother with a toddler. So, all of us moms know that toddlers are not to be on a fat restricted diet. Quite the contrary, healthy fats are good for them and essential for their brain development. There is full on fat cheeses, whole milk, Velveeta in the pantry we have graham crackers and crackers of a few other varieties, pepperoni bites and I have to come to the truth of the matter as to why mothers tend to gain weight when we have kids. It's the kid's need of fat in their diet that's the problem!!! I feed my kid really well but after the last visit to the doc he suggested I serve a few more grilled cheese sandwiches at lunch rather then hummus on wheat tortillas with grape tomatoes...what's wrong, the guy don't like hummus? Anyway, I digress. Pre-baby I don't think I ever would have bought a can of cheez-wiz to make cheese crackers (at least they are wheat crackers) and I don't think I ever made pancakes more than I do now. So really, it's not our fault! Yes, I know I am gaining weight because I am pregnant but still...it is hard to say no to the cheez-wiz. And speaking of the pregnancy does anyone else find it weird, nay, on the verge of sabotage by mother nature that I can eat grilled cheese and pancakes just fine but the minute I try to consume a vegetable medley I am literally having to choke it down and not puke it up. There is something weird going on here and I don't like it! Okay Misty, here is the 8 week belly pic.

Oh no! Eating right was hard enough for me during the first pregnancy...you're telling my that all Maddie's kiddo snacks are going to make it worse next time? I love the tiny little pooch of a belly you've got now...at least you can blame it on Gummi Bear Wickes and not the Cheez wiz!!!

I'm with you on all the fatty snacks filling my refrigerator and pantry. I swear I will never lose weight with this kiddo diet. : ) Ok, you are so cute and fit that a few pounds won't matter on your body. I'm convinced that you'll look adorable pregnant and I can't wait to see you grow a belly!! : )
